Vintage Sheen Grind Gauge in Original Wooden Box
A vintage Sheen grind gauge also known as a hegman gauge.
This finely calibrated tool is used for determining the size of particles when preparing pigment for mixing with a soluble liquid - i.e. in the making of watercolour paints.
The gauge comes with a doctor blade which is used draw down the pigment and mesure the size of particles in the pigment.
The grind gauge measures 12.2 x 4.8 x 1.3 cm.
