L Frank antique watercolour paint cake in Burnt Umber.
Featuring the Royal Coat of Arms of Queen Victoria, the paint cake dates from the mid-1800s.
L Frank is a lesser known Artists’ Colourman who operated out of the London Bridge area. The address stamped on the cake is 14 Boro an address that was also occupied at one time by R.Newsom an Artists’ Colourman who supplied J.M.W.Turner.
The cake is unused and in good condition, with the crest and description on the reverso in sharp relief. There is some cracking on the side of the cake, but this is to be expected due to the age of the piece.
The cake measures 2.9 cm x 1.7 cm x 1.1 cm. The cake weighs 8.8 grams.
